How to Submit Tour Reports in OneStop

Overview

Tour reports are an important part of Alberta well operation reporting. Under Directive 059, licensees must electronically submit reports of daily operations to the AER no later than seven calendar days after acceptance of the electronic summary data for drilling, completion, reconditioning, and abandonment operations. These reports are submitted through AER OneStop.

This guide summarizes the OneStop workflow for submitting tour reports and highlights the checks operators should complete before filing.

When This Process Applies

This process applies when a licensee has completed reportable well operations and must submit the daily tour reports associated with those activities. Before submitting the tour reports, the summary drilling and completion data should already be submitted. The tour reports must also align with the dates and information submitted in Petrinex so the reporting package is considered compliant.

Operators should also confirm that the report has been named using the proper convention, generally matching the well licence number. Clear file naming reduces confusion and helps ensure the correct information is attached to the correct well.

OneStop Submission Process

After logging into OneStop, accept the required agreement confirmation. From the top-left menu, use the Construct drop-down and select Tour Submission. Search for the well licence number and select the well associated with the tour report.

Start a new tour submission. Select the appropriate tour type or types. At least one tour type must be selected, but no more than three may be selected in a single submission. Enter the start date and end date for the tour period. These dates should match the dates previously submitted in Petrinex.

Next, select the relevant well identifier for the operation. Upload the tour report files and confirm they have been named correctly. Before submitting, use the validation function to check the package. Validation helps identify missing data or format issues before the submission is sent to the AER.

Once validation is successful and all data has been accepted, submit the tour report package through OneStop.

Key Considerations

The most common issues are date mismatches, incorrect licence selection, incomplete prior summary data, and file naming problems. If the dates in the tour report do not match what has been submitted in Petrinex, the report may not be considered compliant. Operators should also ensure the summary drilling and completion data has been submitted before attempting to submit the tour report.

Because the reporting deadline is short, operators should prepare and validate the submission as soon as practical after the operational data is complete. Keeping a record of the validation and submission confirmation is also recommended for internal tracking and audit support.


A final review step is recommended before submission. Confirm that each attached tour report is complete, that the selected tour type matches the operation performed, and that the reporting period does not accidentally include dates outside the operation window. If multiple operation types are being reported, confirm the submission still falls within the allowable number of tour types for the OneStop workflow.

After submission, retain a copy of the submission confirmation and any validation result. These records are useful for internal compliance tracking and can help demonstrate that the reporting obligation was completed within the required timeframe.
