Common Question
Does D083 require a cement bond log before hydraulic fracturing?
Archive Findings
The FAQ says a cement evaluation log could be run to help assess hydraulic isolation, but licensees are not required to run a CBL and a CBL is not conclusive evidence.
The AER said representative CBLs would be considered case by case.

Engineering Insight
Use a CBL when it helps answer the actual integrity question. If relying on other evidence, document why it is technically adequate.
Current Guidance
Current Directive 083 should be checked with current cementing rules before deciding on logs. The file should support casing integrity and hydraulic isolation, not just contain a log.
